Egyptian Belly Dance
Egyptian dance (also known as bellydance) is a low-impact dance which is suitable for everyone. The workshops start with the basic techniques (from learning to ‘walk’ through to the classic shimmy!) and combine these into simple combinations with repetition and individualised feedback to support each dancer. We build a healthy posture and a stronger core by developing isolated movements from within the body, with a gentle warm-up and cool-down to release at the end. These workshops are a fun and safe way to learn the basics of this dynamic and elegant dance style.
No dance or movement experience is required, these workshops are suitable for complete beginners or those with experience wanting to get back to basics. This workshop teaches the women’s style of Egyptian dance but dancers of all genders, ages and levels of mobility are welcome. Each workshop will be unique but regular dancers will be given further guidance as they master the basics. Please bring a scarf to tie around your hips.
